The Judea Journal May Issue is Here!

Friends,

Download and read the May Journal today!

There are only a few announcements in the sidebar this week but the monthly newsletter is packed with news and information about our lives together.  Be sure to download today and read.  Of special interest to me is the survey you will find on page 12.  That page is intended to be cut and mailed, however, there is an online form so you can fill out that survey now.

This Sunday we will be taking our annual One Great Hour of Sharing offering.    Watch your mailbox this week for an appeal letter asking for your support.  You can use the envelope supplied, or you can give online through our secure giving portal.

You are probably aware that this week was the Give Local event for online giving to local charities.  One of the charities we support is Loaves and Fishes Hospitality Kitchen, who is in the midst of a capital campaign to raise money for a new building in addition to their regular needs for supporting ongoing operations.  The great news is that they won the prize for Social services agency having more than 5 donors between 1-3PM!  A $500 prize!  Thanks to everyone who has given!  With this prize we have raised just over $8000.00!   And though I forgot to include the announcement in the monthly Journal issue, we also raised over $1,200 for them at the Trivia Night we hosted last Saturday.  In addition to the donations, at least 75 people were in attendance and had a blast!

And today is the day that Maddie and Michael Gorra get their heads shaved to raise awareness for childhood cancer and raise money in support of research.  They have raised over $20,000!  This is Maddie’s senior project at Shepaug High School.  You may want to give her a hug of support the next time you see her and thanks for her selfless project that really embodies the intent of incorporating community service into her life.  Maddie will attend her prom next month sporting a VERY short haircut!

May the rest of your week be filled with peace and joy!
