Organist/ Choir Director: Jesse Ofgang

Music at the first Congregational Church of Washington is an integral part of our church life.  Along with prayer, meditation, and inspirational words, music gives wings to our souls.  Our beautiful pipe organ or piano regularly accompany our intergenerational Chancel Choir, Youth Choirs, talented soloists as well as our entire congregation in both traditional hymns and spirituals as well as new music.  On occasion, cello, bassoon, trumpet, or African drums fill the Meeting House as well.

Our Principal Musician role is shared by Ilana and Jesse Ofgang, a very talented sister and brother team.

Chancel Choir - We are continuing our tradition of an all-volunteer, inter-generational choir. On the third Sunday of each month, we will lead hymns, sing an Introit and Anthem Offering, and may sing a prayer response after the prayers of the people. Our Chancel Choir Director and one of our two Organists, Ilana Ofgang, will lead us in rehearsal time starting at 8:30 am.  Younger choir members are also invited to join us--just for the beginning of the service, or the whole thing.
Come and help bring more life to our weekly worship!  No attendance requirements--join us as often as you can.

Youth Choir -The First Congregational Church's Youth Choir encompasses First Grades through High School and is directed by Ilana Ofgang, our Choir Director and one of our two organists.  Rehearsal is generally for 15-20 minutes immediately after Sunday worship with the goal of presenting the music for the second Sunday of the chosen month.

Please come out and join us for a wonderful musical experience. The Youth Choir is open to all children from the greater Washington Community. Experience is not necessary, but a love of singing is a plus!

It is not necessary to commit to the full year up front.  We understand that sometimes families may miss an occasional Sunday.

You may contact Ilana and Jesse for more information on any of our choirs.

Bell Choir - We are hoping the handbells can present music for worship on occasional Sundays.  Rehearsals are generally coordinated prior to and the morning of the Service at 8:30.   No prior experience necessary.

Special Music - If you have a talent and would like to share it, please contact Ilana and Jesse and we can fill the Meeting House with beautiful music!
