Change Ourselves, Change the World

“If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. ... We need not wait to see what others do.”
- Mahatma Gandhi

Judea Weekly eNews for May 18

Friends,

Hot enough for you yet?  We think the Meeting House is pretty cool!  Come visit us there on a Sunday morning at 10 am… we’d love to have you join us!

This Saturday at 2 pm, we will hold a memorial service to celebrate the life of long time member, Georgia Middlebrook.  Please join us for that service of joy and gratitude for a life fully and well lived.  Contributions of food for the reception are being accepted.  Please contact Wayne Hileman if you can bring something or help out in the kitchen that day.

If you are planning to attend Georgia’s memorial service, we'd like to remind you of the tight parking situation in our part of town.  If at all possible, please car-pool.  Note that out of courtesy to our neighbors who will be open during these times, the Gunn Library and Museum, we are asking that you park on Kirby Road, or in the parking spaces associated with the Washington Club, leaving upper spaces for library and museum patrons who are not attending the service.

On Sunday, besides our morning worship service at 10 am, there will be a free concert by SingOut!CT at 6 pm in the Meeting House.  Don’t miss it!  Read more about it in the announcement on the right.

We continue to accept annual One Great Hour of Sharing offerings through the end of the month.    We extend a HUGE thanks to those who have contributed already.  If you have not yet done so, you can use the envelope supplied in a letter you may have received recently, drop off at the church office or duly marked into the weekly offering box on Sunday, or you can give online through our secure giving portal.

At the very beginning of June there are two special events hosted by our Youth Group.  One is an All-Church Prom and the other is a Pet Adoption event on the Green.  Please read the announcements on the right for all the details.

Download and read the May Journal today!  The monthly newsletter is packed with news and information about our lives together.  Be sure to download today and read.  Of special interest to me is the survey you will find on page 12.  That page is intended to be cut and mailed, however, there is an online form so you can fill out that survey now.  The responses we do or do not get on this will affect the frequency and content of our monthly newsletter so if you read it and would like to voice your opinion, please respond today.

May the rest of your week be filled with peace and joy!
