Change Ourselves, Change the World

“If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. ... We need not wait to see what others do.”
- Mahatma Gandhi

Judea Weekly eNews for March 16 - Happy Spring!

Friends,

Happy First Day of Spring several days early!  It is on a Monday this year and so I did not want to miss highlighting the big day.  I trust that it will mark a new time of new life for us all.  Certainly, all the precipitation we have gotten over the past few months has been a welcome and needed gift after the very dry year in 2016.  It bodes well for a spring filled with all sorts of flowering things!  I want to offer a prayer of gratitude for all of that - and for the vegetable and flower seeds that are starting in my basement and the plants that are coming back to life in our garden cold frame.

If you have not had a chance to join us on a Sunday morning in the church hall for worship, do plan to come this week or next as it won't be long before we migrate back over to the newly refurbished Meeting House.  We are still waiting on the pews...  Come and enjoy the intimate and casual atmosphere here.  One stop shopping, so to speak, with refreshments and fellowship to follow in the same room!  This Sunday, Pastor Cheryl is planning a service and sermon focusing on Forgiving as part of her Lenten series about maintaining spiritual health.

Before I go on to other items of note for the coming week, I wanted to let you know that office hours this Monday and Tuesday will be different that usual. You may or may not be aware but Pastor Cheryl's schedule has shifted and she now is off on Mondays and Tuesdays, working Wednesday through Sunday.  That said, Susan Jahnke is away for a few weeks and my schedule will change for this week only.  I will be in the office Monday morning instead of afternoon and then will be working from home on Tuesday.  You may contact us for routine matters by email or leaving a message at 860-868-0569.  I will be checking both during my office hours.  For urgent matters, you may call Pastor Cheryl at home or via cell phone.  Rather than share those by email, they are noted on the recording when you reach the church office.

John Lintner loves music!  (And books...) Because he loves music and singing and playing guitar so much, he has invited everyone who wants to come to a sing-along on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 pm in the church hall.  You can read more about it in the announcement on the right but do plan to join him!

We ARE planning to hold a Trivia Night fundraiser for Loaves & Fishes on April 22.  I will be leading the charge on coordinating this and need TWO good people to help.  You will find an announcement to the right with more details.  It promises to be a fun night and there appears to be a lot of people who love playing trivia games.  Give it some thought, consider pitching in and then contact me if you want to give me a hand or two.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
