Change Ourselves, Change the World

“If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. ... We need not wait to see what others do.”
- Mahatma Gandhi

Judea Weekly eNews for July 28 - Living Joyfully!

Members and Friends,

This is the third week of our faith practice, Playing and Living Joyfully, and Pastor Cheryl has some news for us this Sunday: Jesus really did want his followers to live joyfully.  In fact, worship is supposed to be joyful, too.  Come en-JOY gathering together with us at 10 am in the Meeting House this Sunday!  Besides the promise of a delightful sermon, we will also welcome guest vocalist Emily Thiel to provide special music in addition to Jesse Ofgang on organ.

Another joy!  Polly Jewett celebrates her 96th birthday this coming Monday.  It would be wonderful if she got a pile of birthday cards!  If you are inclined to participate in this celebration, send a card to her at Independence Manor of Hunterdon, Apt 212; 188 State Hwy 31; Flemington, NJ  08822.

There are still two openings for "coffee hour" hosts - light refreshments (with pitchers of cold drinks in lieu of coffee and tea) on the green after worship.  The dates are August 7 and 14.  Please notify the church office if you can host either one.

Please note that we are still looking for candidates for our brand new Christian Education Director position.  Please give some thought to who you know that might be qualified and interested and pass along the announcement (to the right or on our home page) with a link to the job description also posted on our website.

If June and early July were way too busy for you and you missed reading our summer newsletter, the summer issue of the Judea Journal is also available on our website resources pages, giving you a heads up on all the upcoming activities, inspirational stuff, and even things to look forward to in September!  (Hint... don't forget the water!!)

Blessings,

Karen Esslinger
