Change Ourselves, Change the World

“If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. ... We need not wait to see what others do.”
- Mahatma Gandhi

Judea Weekly eNews - Homecoming!

Greetings Friends,

Welcome back to everyone who has been away over the summer and those who have stayed close to home!  This Sunday, don't forget to come in casual attire (shorts are just fine!) and bring your small amount of water from whatever water source represents where you were refreshed this summer as we do our annual "mixing of the waters" at our homecoming service - 10 am in the Meeting House.  The annual picnic will follow with the deacons providing grilled burgers and hotdogs.  There will also be a cake to celebrate our church's 275th birthday!  So bring along a salad or side dish and plan to stick around.  Carrie Loyd, our new Christian Education Director, will be leading games on the Green, too.  Bring a lawn chair or blanket to get comfortable.  In case of rain, we will be indoors.

Also happening this Sunday, Teen Talk will hold their first meeting (high schoolers only) after worship.  If you are interested at all, check in with Emelie or Ellen asap since the group will only be open for joining this Sunday and then again in January.

And Pastor Cheryl will hold a short orientation meeting - while the picnic is getting set up - for the new confirmation program that begins this fall.  Young people interested in the program and their parents are asked to attend or contact Pastor Cheryl if you will not be here on Sunday but are interested.

Summer may be waning but activity here at First Church is heating up!  Check all the announcements on the right.  The September issue of the Judea Journal - our monthly newsletter  with lots more information and some photos from the summer fun - is available by clicking HERE.  Past issues can be found in our archive

Basking in blessings every day,

Karen Esslinger
