Change Ourselves, Change the World

“If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. ... We need not wait to see what others do.”
- Mahatma Gandhi

Judea eNews for August 10 - News, info and celebrations...

Dear Friends,

These past few weeks, Pastor Cheryl has been sharing some new perspectives on honoring the body and learning how to choose a life of wholeness, holiness, and joy.  This week, Ellen Willert will be leading our congregation in the final week in the series of honoring the body.  The service is centered around the Song of Solomon/ Song of Songs and she has planned a beautiful service around that theme.  Members of our Chancel Choir will also sing this Sunday.  Come celebrate with us this week.

Carrie Loyd will be leading Summer Camp Sunday for the younger set.  And Annie Baur will be on hand for nursery care, if needed.  If you have little ones, be assured they will be well nurtered by our staff on Sunday!

So it seems like our announcements are very heavily centered on Missions and on a few special annual services coming up that punctuate the end of summer.  There is a new one for an open event at Judea Garden that will also honor Judie Gorra as key representative volunteer there from our church.  Do plan to go - even for a short while - to help celebrate.  And please mark your calendars for a Blessing of the Backpacks, Students and Educators on August 27, along with a school kit building event for Church World Services.  Then on September 3, our Blessing of the Tools at the annual Pavilion Service down in the Depot and on September 10, Homecoming/Mixing of the Water and Last Gasp of Summer picnic on the Green.  All the details show up in the announcements on the right so be sure to read them through and mark those calendars!

We are still collecting food for the Washington-Warren food bank.  Check the announcement on the right with the latest update and the featured “food of the week” we are requesting.

Hoping to see you on Sunday!
