Judea Weekly eNews - Celebrations of Youth and Fun and Furry Ones

Friends,

You should definitely browse the announcements on the right sidebar.  The list seems to be growing daily.  June and July are shaping up to be pretty busy months!

Today's news, however, is devoted to THIS WEEKEND that will be brought to you by our vibrant Youth Group!!

Saturday - you just HAVE to come to the PROM!!  If you have not already bought your ticket(s), you can do so any time up till the event.  (My beau just invited me! My first prom ever!) Earlier is better, though, especially if you plan to come to the dinner before-hand by contacting Emelie Samuelson or any of the youth group members.  You can read more about it in the announcement on the right.  There have been some erroneous times floating around (sorry about that!!!) so I need to clarify Prom times:

  • 5 pm - Pot Luck Dinner (optional)
  • 6:30 pm - Dancing and festivities begin!

On Sunday, our annual Youth Service and Baccalaurate is at 10 am.  The young people have put a lot of planning into this and it promises to be a great time.  The topic is "Where do we fit in?"  and while Pastor Cheryl is presiding, our graduate this year, Maddie Gorra, will give the sermon.  Please come and celebrate with us.  All children will remain in the service the entire time.

Following the service, will be the special pet adoption event on the Green, hosted by our Youth Group in cooperation with the New Milford Animal Welfare Society.  Tell your friends!  Better yet, bring them along!!  Even if you are not in the market for a new pet, come to learn about the great things that the NMAWS does!

Thanks to all who rose to the call for Food Bank donations!  The cart is full today and a chunk closer to our goal - YAY! - but we have estimated about 400# to go...  Some around here think we can't meet the rather ambiguous (2,000#) bar that we set for food donations last year.  But I have a lot of faith in this faith community!!  Please prove them wrong and continue to make that concerted effort to fill our shopping cart weekly throughout the month of June.  I know we can do it - or at least come darn close in trying.  Whatever we can do will be much appreciated by qualified social services recipients and their families who receive this assistance.

Download and read the June Journal today if you haven't already!  Of special interest to me is the survey you will find on page 4.  That page is intended to be cut and mailed, however, there is an online form so you can fill out that survey now.  It is another oppportunity - if you missed the chance in May - to let us know what, if anything is important to you in this monthly publication and if you would be ok with a change to every other month publication.  Response has been very low so far.  Non-response may be translated as disinterest or lack of readership, which could have a very different impact on our publications that you may not intend.  Your response really is IMPORTANT... even if you tell us you don't read at all - though we sure do hope that is not the case!

May the rest of your week be filled with peace and joy!
