Guidelines for Gathering Together

We are currently meeting for worship virtually and in-person on the Green (weather permitting).

When can we gather together in the Meeting Houe again for worship?

With the CDC guidelines changing and the State Mask recommendations lifted May 19th for those vaccinated, we had a good discussion at in our May Council meeting as to how to proceed.

We have tried to adapt as safely and smartly as possible through the changing landscape of a new reality during the pandemic, and to allow for the largest possible variety of worship activities, such as congregational singing and responsive readings and prayers. This is our latest plan, and we will be constantly reevaluating as the situation continues to unfold:

     In light of the following:

  • We do not want to be ‘vaccine card police’ at worship and so allow all who want to join us to do so,
  • the verdict is still out on singing,
  • children younger than 12 still remain unvaccinated, and
  • we have a beautiful Green and Meetinghouse.

We have decided for now (likely through the Green Fair July 10th and the clean up following):

  • to remain outside on the Green as weather allows, but bring back congregant singing (we will provide hymnals).
  • to move into the Meetinghouse if/when weather is iffy or downright bad, with no congregant singing and all masked.
  • to continue to suspend coffee hour.
  • to continue to re-imagine Communion.
  • to continue streaming to YouTube Live and Zoom the services.
  • to provide printed bulletins starting in June.

The Annual meeting will be held in person June 13th inside the Meetinghouse to provide for ample distancing and the use of the sound system, and masks will be required. We plan to have the service that day on the Green with a baptism (being outside has been requested by the family) and then move inside for the meeting.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding as we try to keep our congregation connected and healthy in mind, body and spirit.

In Peace and Love,

Trish Grinnell, Moderator
