First Church's Judea Weekly for June 16

Greetings Friends,

Fathers' Day is coming up and so is our annual River Service and Strawberry Shortcake Social!  Come on down to the river and pray with us this Sunday at 10 am.  We'll be in the field near the river at 60 River Road.  There will be balloons on the mailbox so you won't miss it.  The teens will be meeting at the Titus Road parking lot beside the river for tube launching.  Anyone who wants to join them as they tube in to the service and hasn't already contacted Emelie, you can send her an email.  See all the details in the announcement on the right (or on our home page).

Speaking of launching...  our new Christian Education Director ad will be spread around as much as we can.  Please help launch that to places we might not be able to reach.  Our Facebook page has the listing posted there; please share on your page as well (if you have one).  The brief ad appears in the announcements on the right and on our home page.

And we are launching our food bank collections into another sphere as we approach the 2,000# target for the year ending this month.  Please bring along at least one canned good this Sunday and we will have topped 133% of last year's donations (and more than 3 times the donations from the year before!)  Look for collection boxes near the parking area.

And Loaves and Fishes is launching the construction of its new building with a ground breaking ceremony on Wednesday, June 22 at 1 pm.  If you can make it, please show up for support!

Two more "soldier boxes" will be launched from the Town Hall Gang tomorrow - late afternoon or evening.  Please drop off donations of goodies to include.  See the list on our resources page for ideas.

Finally though certainly not least among the announcements here, please pray for all of the people affected directly or indirectly by the mass shooting in Orlando this week.  A statement by the United Church of Christ appears at the right.  And thoughtfully, prayerfully consider what action you might take within your own sphere of influence to help affect change and bring Christ's vision to reality in our culture.

The June issue of the Judea Journal - our monthly newsletter - is now available by clicking HERE.  Past issues can be found in our archive

May the blessings - and river - continue to flow strongly,

Karen Esslinger
